This week a press conference was given by Belgian police zone RIHo (encompassing the towns of Roeselare, Izegem and Hoogslede) about the successful completion of a trial with RSIC Survey eID Edition and the start of the operational usage of this new system, with the completion of the trial. RSIC was present at this press conference and provided information about the solution, as well as a short demo to the attending journalists.
In the RIHo police zone, authorized city workers and policemen are equiped with a BlackBerry that has RSIC Survey eID Edition installed. Using this solution, the police zone can easily develop their own digital forms, allowing them to capture their GPS location as well as add photographs to the collected data on the form. Besides this, there is a possiblitity to add fields to the form that are read directly from a Belgian electronic identity cards (eID). The police zone has successfully been using this solution to record offenses involving vandalism, polution, parking offenses and similar matters. Belgian media have given a fair deal of attention to the press conference and the presented solution (see below).
